About Scoreblip

Scoreblip is a feed of small games for kids, made by two of us, one in the UK and one in the US. Every game is built to a long list of rules we’ve written over months about what a game for a five year old or a thirteen year old should feel like, then played on a cheap old Android phone over and over until it holds up. A person plays and approves every game before it goes in the feed, and a fair few get thrown out along the way. There are no adverts, no accounts for children and no chat, and nothing inside a game ever asks a child to buy anything.

People sometimes ask how we make them. We use AI coding tools to write the code, and we’re straight about that because there’s understandable concern about AI in games. Our view is that the concern is really about effort: a tool used instead of care produces poor games, and the more that happens the more people will come to expect it. We were sold AI as a tool, and that’s what it is here. Every game starts as our own idea, gets revised until it’s right, and if it feels like it was made by someone who cared, that’s because it was, just with a different set of tools from the ones we grew up with.
